Bay Tutoring delivers exceptional after-school tuition for school students across New Zealand. We have grown to be a trusted school tuition provider, providing maths tuition, English tuition, and science tuition for students of all ages. We now offer a range of services, with in-person lessons available in Tauranga, Te Puke, and Hamilton, and online learning available across New Zealand.
Our mission is to make great school tuition more affordable, accessible, and enjoyable for more Kiwi kids.
What we do
Bay Tutoring currently offers lessons in Maths, English, Economics, and the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). Other subjects may be available on request. We tutor students at all school ages from Year 1 to Year 13. Not all subjects and age combinations are available in-person in all locations: contact us if you would like to check.
The aim of our tuition is to give students the skills and confidence they need to learn and grow. We evaluate what students need and help them along their learning journey, providing interesting and relevant work to improve their ability and understanding.
Our values
We appreciate and respect the vital role that education plays in everyone's lives, so we are committed to helping our students excel. We don't take this commitment lightly. Every tutor is evaluated and trained by us to enable them to provide the best service for you and your child. Our tutors are supported by an ever-increasing bank of resources that includes lesson plans, worksheets, homework, and practice tests. We make these resources ourselves to ensure their quality and that they support and extend the New Zealand Curriculum.

Frequently asked questions
What subjects do you teach?
We currently teach Maths, English, and the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) from Year 1 to Year 13. Other subjects may be available on request. Please note that, depending on your location, some subject/year combinations are not available in-person. Contact us and we will be able to give you more detailed information.
Are your tutors trained?
Yes! We train our tutors so they can deliver an exceptional service using their knowledge and our learning resources. We also regularly evaluate our tutors' performance and give them advice on how they can improve their teaching. Many of our tutors intend to be school teachers when they finish school or university, so this is a great experience for them and motivates them to teach brilliantly.
How do you know the NZ curriculum?
We make our own learning content based on the New Zealand school curriculum. We have thoroughly studied the curriculum to ensure that what we do fits in with what students are doing at school and what they need to know.
What times do you have available?
The availability of our tutors varies, but we are pretty flexible. Lessons can generally be booked up to 8pm in the evening and your tutor may be able to do weekends too (students usually aren't so keen on that though!). Please note that we get busier as the school year progresses. If you would like to know more about our availability, please contact us.
How do I pay?
You will be emailed an invoice after your first lesson. We usually invoice for five lessons at a time, but you can request more or less than this. We accept payment by internet bank transfer (preferred) or credit card. Details for payment can be found on your invoice.
Where are you based?
Bay Tutoring is based in Tauranga in the Western Bay of Plenty. Our tutors live across New Zealand, but in-person lessons are currently available in Tauranga, Te Puke, and Hamilton (subject to availability).
How do I book a lesson?
Contact us via phone, email, or this website, tell us what days and times work for you, and we will be in touch. Once we know what you need, we'll organise a suitable tutor for you. They will then contact you to arrange a lesson time.
Can i call you?
Absolutely! Call 027 8232462 to talk to Chris for more information about Bay Tutoring.
I emailed you or filled out the contact form, but I have not heard back.
We ALWAYS reply, so if you have not heard back from us within 3 business days, check your email's junk/spam folder as sometimes emails get stuck there accidentally.
